The lair of DOOM [early Friday afternoon, NFB]

Feb 08, 2008 13:36

Luke was bored.

Bored, bored, bored.

After three days, he was tired of staring at the walls. Tired of staring at the ceiling. Tired of being chained up and electrocuted every time he moved. Stupid being kidnapped.

He used the Force to itch his nose, got shocked, then sighed at the other Jedi. "Any ideas how to get out of this?"

jolee, traumatraumatrauma, jaina, men in masks freak me out, like i didn't have *enough* issues, i'm so confused, dad, jedi-ness, dooooooooooooom

"I'm working on it," Anakin griped.

"And I certainly don't want to rush you," Luke said carefully, "but he's managed to capture all the Jedi on the island and hold us in one place. I can't believe it's because he was to give us all tea and let us go."

"Next time he takes a group hostage he should really consider binders that are easier to escape," Jaina grumbled, still trying to work her way out of them. It wasn't working in the slightest, which was just pissing her off more.

"But that would take away from his genius," Anakin replied, rolling his eyes. He'd spent half the day in a meditative state trying to recover from his electrocution the night before and the rest of the day getting re-electrocuted. "I can't hold still long enough to trip the damn locks."

"Can't squeeze my hands out, either. Ow." She grimaced, trying to twist her hand a little more to see if another angle would help. "And I keep expecting another shock."

"There's always another shock," Luke whined whined. "I couldn't use the Force right now for anything big any more than I could flap my arms and fly."

Just when Jaina thought she might be able to pull her hand free- which she was wrong about anyway- she felt another shock run through her and bit her lip against letting out a string of curses in front of her family members and the grumbling old man. "That can stop at any time!" she said.

Anakin gave her a tight encouraging smile. "At least Doom hasn't come in to blather on about how brilliant he is and how it's his destiny to destroy the Jedi, mwahaha. They usually do."

"I'm sure it's on his to-do list," said Jaina, who was more than familiar with the practice.

"The word destiny gives me hives," Luke complained.

"That's hardly helpful, Luke," Anakin replied. "I'm still wondering how he figured out how to make a Jedi stay where he put them. It took most of our galaxy centuries to figure it out."

"Maybe he's a torture protege," Jaina suggested.

Trying again to start pulling her hand free, she quickly figured out that her skin didn't like this too much, and it would be a much better idea to stop for a while and wait till it stopped stinging first.

"That's exactly what I want to hear about a youngling I taught ethics to," Anakin bitched. "'Wow, he sure knows his evil!'"

"Something tells me he wasn't listening in class," Jaina pointed out.

Luke snickered, but refrained from saying something about it depending on which semester he took the class.

Smart Luke.

"And what's with the fashion choice?" he asked instead. "I don't like masks."

Remembering how she'd stopped him short when she'd made that crack about him not having a face when she'd been Brooke, Jaina said, "I kind of get the impression it's not a choice."

Which in no way made her feel the slightest bit more sympathetic.
