Over due update / travel log
Sorry about the length of time since the last posting. Wow, I have done some traveling in the last few months. Every state in the S.E. except for Fla. Now, it looks like I will have plenty of time to recover .... Despite doing good work and making my company money (on the books) it seems that if your clients are having difficulties in their business, that they stop paying the surveyors they hire to get them the information they need. And when they stop paying (to the tune of $600,000).... We get laid-off. As of last Friday my crew (the only surveying crew at my company) was officially laid-off. No warning, just a little meeting after returning to the office after a week in N.C. The problem is in the whole of the building industry. Surveyors have been being laid off like never before. No building being built, no subdivisions getting started and property sales have really dropped off. So, no need for surveyors. Hmmm, George Washington's B-day is coming up ..... I wonder what he did when he wasn't surveying of being a general or a president .... that's right he was a distiller of whiskey.... Maybe I could get into that line of business. Trying to look for the silver lining ....
