Nobody ever asks Luke about his first kiss. Everyone knows -- thinks it was Marissa. She was his first girlfriend. But then again, he didn't loose his virginity to her. So Luke remembers.
She was younger in every sense. Her skin was lighter, not artificially tanned yet. Her hair was the natural dirty blonde color, not the bright blonde it would be years later. She was eleven, and he was tweleve. She reached her hand over on top of his and so he leaned over and kissed her. And there it was.
It was just a peck, just two pairs of lips brushing aganist each other for the first time. But he can remember every detail. How her eyes shined, how she gave him a nervous smile. But they grew up. Luke started dating Marissa, and things were never really that simple again.
Ten years after his first kiss, Luke isn't surprised when he bumps into her at the same college in California. She's dyed her hair again, but this time it's a light brown color and it works. She flashes that same nervous smile and her eyes are shining again. And everything's simple again.
"Hey, Luke."
"Hey, Holly."
And before the sun goes down that day, they kiss again.
I hate that last line. But eh.
