Update

On Sunday, March 16, my mother passed away. It was peaceful. My dad was by her side and she quietly slipped away. On saturday, March 22, we held a farewell gathering so that the people that she loved and who loved her in return could say goodbye.

I think that because my father, sister and i all got a few minutes before hand alone with her, we got a lot of our tears out, and i think i handled myself pretty well at all the people giving their respects. It was a bigger turn out than we had planned, which only goes to show how many people she touched.

at the reception, i think i was kind of more upbeat than people expected, but it wasn't a funeral. it was a goodbye gathering. My mother wouldn't have wanted a funeral. (i don't want one either).

On her casket, there was a bouquet of red and white flowers, and next to it, Her Red Shoes. My mother spent YEARS looking for the Perfect Red Shoes, and she finally found them 6 months to a year ago. Seriously, she had everyone on the look out for the perfect pair of red shoes. We thought it was only fitting  for them to be on display (and later to be cremated with her, along with a bottle of water - she was an H20 freak - and a yellow rose [i think] from her cousin in Costa Rica who wasn't able to make it here).

My mother was probably one of my closest friends. I told her almost everything (as there are just some things that a mother shouldn't know about her twenty-something daughter). I love her so so much and i'm going to miss her dearly - more than i can express.

For this week, my sister and i have returned home, and all three of us have taken it off so we can grieve and deal with the legal stuff.
Maren and I are debating whether or not we're going to move back in, and if we're going to do it secretly or ask him outright.

On a slightly lighter note, some of my family from the interior are coming back in three weeks to celebrate my birthday. (Mom usually made my favourite meal - beef cutlets, mashed or scalloped potatoes {depending on what kind of mood i was in at the time}, corn, and candied carrots). I think someone said that Mimi was going to do it. I think we're all going to need each other to lean on in the upcoming months.

On an even lighter note, I'm getting pretty good at Wii Sports! Last week, we made Mii's out of the whole family, so now when we play baseball, the whole team is made up of family members. its pretty funny.

Tonight my dad and sis and i played... maybe about 6 hours of Wii Golf. Three hours straight, a two hour break, and then another three hours straight. We're all almost pro's at golf (you need a rating of 1000 to be a pro at any sport), and i'm also almost a pro at bowling!! i love Wii bowling. If only i were as good at bowling in real life than just on Betty! (I named my Wii Betty. If i talk about Betty, its probably my Wii). I think the next time i see the fam, me and Mares will be pros at bowling, golf and maybe even tennis. (Boxing is tiring, and i like fighting against the computer more. Its a good way to get out anger, and frustrations.)

I'm doing okay. It helps when you have the most amazing people to call friends to help you through something like this, though. I love you guys so much, you have no idea how grateful i am to you.
