Had a really good weekend with
skullycat and kaeda.
Friday I wasn't quite sure what my plans were when i got out of bed in the am. I was either going to a party hosted by
jamiesona 's girlfriend's friend, or hanging out with the woman.
I hung out with the woman. I picked her up after work, and she and I had dinner at La Nakamura in Steveston. Its a pretty good place. The service was a little slow, but they were very attentive and nice. We were there for about 1.5-2 hrs, then started to take a walk after dinner along the boardwalk, but it was getting chilly and late, so we zipped to Rogers to rent a movie - Confessions of a Shopaholic. I'd already seen it, but K was interested since she'd heard a couple of the other books on tape.
We went back to her place, she put Kaeda to bed, and I had a nice talk with Steve. Then i called drewbie, who was at the party. It was loud, and we talked about the PNE a bit.
I kind of adore Hugh Dancy. He's so cute!! but yeah, the movie was entertaining. Karen was all, omg, she's kind of painful to watch! and its true. but its all good, because she came out on top in the end.
Saturday I spent with Karen and Kaeda. We had brekkie at Ihop with Drew, then the girls and I went shopping and Drew went to go deliver papers/Christmas Catalogues for his father.
The girls and I started out at the mall, but didn't stay there very long. We stayed long enough to check out Old Navy, and we considered getting some things, but Karen was all, lets try Value Village first.
so we went there.
And Seriously, I kind of love it there. I bought a pair of shoes (leopard print sandals that are kind of awesome but they kind of hurt my feet but i don't even care because they're kind of awesome); a weird yellow shirt with brown spots (that totally shows off my tattoos, which is awesome, and its chesty, which is awesome); a black&white halter top that Karen found; really nice green top that i could wear to work; and two brand name sweatshirts - a white one (hollister) and a grey one (roxy) - all for less than $60. I thought that was a pretty good deal.
Then we went and got iced lattes from Tim Hortons (after I changed into my new yellow top in the car! it was quite a feat!), and then we went back to Karens and hung out there. Drew came over, and Kaeda swam in the Hot Tub. (She likes to splash Auntie a bit, but Auntie usually stays in the Splash zone anyway, so we can't really blame her).
Karen introduced me to a game she has on her iphone, and I got totally addicted. As in, I ignored everyone and everything. Drew was trying to show me these cool jeans this guy was wearing in the ikea catalogue, and i was all, uh huh, that's nice. He even texted karens phone 'Look at these spiffy pants!' or smth, but i just yelled at him because he was interrupting my game. Sally's Salon. its awesome. So then he pretty much physically shoved the picture in my face, and the jeans WERE pretty cool - they had pockets EVERYWHERE. i love pockets. I hate having things without any pockets.
but anyway, he left around... some time, because he had to get ready for a date, and i kind of ignored him when he said goodbye, because i was playing my game.
I ate dinner with the Rodden Ladies (Don was at the pub, and Steve was just getting off work). We had salmon and potatoes and yummy bread. Actually, just before Karen started cooking the salmon on the bbq, she was all, I NEED PIZZA!!! so she called Steve, and he got a Hot 'N Ready pizza from Little Caesars for her, dropped it off, then went out. He's such a sweetie. So she had pizza, and the rest of us had salmon, and Kaeda had a bit of both.
Don came home and had a quick bite before taking Kaeda and Skully for a walk to eat blackberries. I kinda helped clean up a bit before returning to the addictive game that is Sally's Salon. Karen had to yell at me to get dessert (Mom&Dad went to the Diplomat while we were out, and Mom picked up some dessert), so we had that and tea. I hung out until Karen put Kaeda to bed.
Sunday I got up early - 7am early, because Karen is sometimes a Nazi. She had planned a PNE outing for Sunday on friday, and on Saturday we tried to get Drew to come with us (so he could drive), but he texted me at 315am sunday morning saying he was just getting to bed and that he wasn't going.
We kind of figured, so I had to drive there. Thank goodness Karen has GPS on her iphone. But anyway, so I got to her place at 8am, and we went to waves for coffee, then Alegria for muffins, and then OFF WE WENT. K's good with directions (unlike me), so we got there without getting lost. We paid $20 for parking - the lot is right across from Playland. Its a little overpriced, but ultimately worth it when you have a small child (and a pregnant lady).
Entry was free - which is why we went on Sunday. It was free from 9-12. So we got there at about 915, and it was already pretty busy. We walked to the Superdogs show, got there at about 930. We found our seats, then I took Kaeda to the merchandise booth and got her a present (at first she chose a dog toy - a rubber bone, but then picked a stuffed Husky).
Superdogs was pretty cool. Kaeda was scared at first, because it was loud and the lights were strobey and blinky, but the dogs came out shortly after that, and then she got into it, cheering and clapping along with the audience. When the dogs raced or did tricks, her eyes would get so big and her jaw would drop. She seriously is one of the cutest kids EVAR.
After the show was over, we spent a few minutes so that Kaeda could pet some of the dogs, then we went to get our stroller. (just as we were near the front of the line, these two little bitches cut in front of me. I let it go because i didn't really care, we were pretty much next anyway, but the little cunts were laughing thinking they were so smart. whatever, they looked like little whores anyway.)
Then we went somewhere, then walked back, and saw Kieran and Abby at the News 1130 booth where they were working. So we said hi, then went to the play area just behind their booth and watched as Kaeda played. Christina and Darin met up with us, and we went back to Kieran and Abby, and we watched Kiki as he went on the air. Then we got food.
holy frak you guys. Seriously, its ridiculous. We went to get Corn Dogs (as Pregasaurus was all 'RAWR, I WANT CORN DOGS!!!' - and yes, it was exactly like that, word for word) so we found corn dogs, waited in a line for about... 10 mins - 5 of those minutes we were at the FRONT of the line, but the girl was not taking orders. After we paid for our dogs, we had to wait in ANOTHER line to GET the corn dogs. that was another 10 mins or so. So we ate those, and then Pregasaurus was all, i need a washroom, so me and the Ladies went to find a bathroom, while C&D went to the DSA - Designated Smoking Area.
We found the washrooms at the Argidome, and stayed there for a little while, watching a tractor go round and round, and ppl set up for another 4-H judging thing. I really didnt want to stay there, so we left. C&D wanted to go on rides, and I was invited along, so we ALL went to Playland. When we got there, tix were $1.50 each (there was no point in getting a whole pack or whatever) we decided against it - there was no way I was going to spend $10.50 for 1 ride (The Coaster apparently cost 7 tickets). We'll just go when the PNE is NOT around and the prices are a bit more reasonable. So we went back to see Kieran, but got Sno Cones first (i got blue, and i got K&K red). I think D&C went to the DSA again. So I let Kieran have a few bites of mine, then shared some of it with Kaeda too. Kieran then went to go get lunch - BBQ chicken (that looked and smelled really good when we walked by). So then D&C met up with us again, and we waited for kieran to come back (as Karen and I really wanted to try some chicken). It was ok. I had hoped it would be amazingly delish, but it was only mediocre. As was the coleslaw. D&C tried to get into the 330 Superdog show, and the K's and I went to the Market Place. We got there, and it was way too packed and we didn't even get through the whole place before Pregasaurus had had enough and decided to leave. So then we called it a day. C&D didn't get into the Superdog show - it was full (but to be fair they left about 10 mins before it started).
The drive home was uneventful. But we were SO HUNGRY when we got to Karens, that we started cooking dinner right away - 430/5-ish. We ate around 530. Then Kaeda hopped in the hot tub and was in there for about 1.5 hrs, then we watched Pegasus (some really weird animated movie about the myth, but I didn't really pay attention to it, and it was WEIRD. I must have been playing Sally's Salon again.
I left at about 730, as I was beat, and Karen had to pack for her ferry home the next day.
So i went home, played on the internets a bit, then went to bed. I HAD A JAM PACKED WEEKENED, FULL OF KAREN AND KAEDA.
so it was kind of Awesome. because Kaeda was there.
OMG. She's the cutest thing evar!! The last time I saw her, I taught her that Auntie was Awesome, because she had the Mommy is Crazy thing down. But it was SOOOOOOOOOO Cute because on Saturday with Drew, I was all, What's Mommy? and Kaeda got a big smile and replied 'Mommy's Crazy!' and I asked, and Auntie? and she replied "Auntie Awesome!" and Karen was all, what's Drew? and Kaeda looked at him for a minute, "Drew's Crazy!"
Basically everyone that isn't Auntie or Kaeda is crazy. Which gives me the warm fuzzies. I love that kid so freakin much.
