Here's to Sean & Daris... Congrats! It's about time!
But who's bloody idea was it to have an outdoor wedding in 10 degree weather? Oh wait, I guess that was my suggestion huh? But you didn't have to listen for crying out loud! *laugh*
For those who haven't met Sean at some point, he's my other half in so many ways. We figure we're two sides of the same coin, (he usually gets credit for the darker side) but we've known eachother since he was barely one year old, and I was terribly two. He's the brother I never had, the best friend I've always counted on, and he was very happy to officially add husband to titles in life, (as though they didn't already consider themselves married with a happy family filling their house. And yes, it WAS my idea that they have their wedding outside at Cat Tales in the middle of winter, I admit it! Well, they've been planning to get married for almost two years, and just kept waiting until they had the money for the ceremony. Turns out that on Sunday night they decided it was too important to them to worry about whether or not they could afford to do it, and Sean took me out for a beer Monday night to tell me I had to come over to his house Thursday (today) for the small wedding to be held in their livingroom. Now it's a nice enough house for what they need, but it's fairly small, and there is an abundace of "character" (my favorite word for clutter) filling much of the living space. I knew they choose to have it there because they couldn't afford to reserve space somewhere else, (nor did they have any time to do so since they left all of three days to plan this thing) but I told them that a day as important as that should be special for them, and something everyone will remember for years to come. There may have been 20 guests, and I don't think that one of them will forget anytime soon about the evening they stood shivering in 10 degree weather watching what became one of the shortest wedding ceremonies I've ever been to, let alone been a part of! During the last couple of hours of work, I wrapped tarps around a 10 foot by 40 foot tent area, hung a few strings of christmas lights, set up some folding chairs, and most importantly finished assembling the giant kerosene heater, in front of which became everyone's favorite place to sit. Well, I hope they had a good time, and that nobody got frostbite... Hope you'll all come back to visit the zoo during warmer times...
