Yet another bump in the road...

Jun 28, 2005 15:39

So, I took my car to get it inspected, and ......... it failed. Ugh. One more bump or road block on my road to getting my license. I was hoping that it would pass and I would be able to go on friday (or saturday) to get my license. That is still a possibility, but I would have to use my dad's pick-up truck.

Wanna know why my Explorer failed? Well, here's the list:

~Airbag light flashes, then stays on. Apparently that means it is 1) not working or 2) can go off at any time. I was told that I would most likely have to take it to a Ford dealer to have that fixed. (Oh goody!) And, apparently, this is an automatic fail.

~Left brake light has a bulb out. No biggie, but they all have to be working to pass.

~Right side upper and lower ball joints are either bad or out of alignment. This is what is causing it to veer to the right. Once they are replaced, the tires will need to be re-aligned.

~Check Engine light is on. It could be nothing, and doesn't figure into the inspection, but they wanted me to know it was on. And, that is bizarre because it wasn't on when I brought it in. I was told that it could just be a code that is set, and that after so many starts, it comes on.

The place I went to can fix everything, but the airbag situation. We might take it to the guy who fixed my dad's truck. I'm not sure yet. Dad said we'd talk about it after he gets home from work. I really hope this doesn't cost a lot of money.

Ugh!! Why me, why now? What is so wrong with me getting my license? Why does something always have to happen to prevent me from getting it? **sigh**

Update [21:29]: I talked things over with dad, and we're going to see about getting it fixed, and I will go in to get my license after the Explorer is fixed. That's fine with me, as long as it doesn't take 3 weeks or so to get fixed. I just need to get it before the concert on July 24th.

Update [07/01/05 22:01]: We did get in contact with the mechanic, and he can fix my Explorer. He said he's fixed hundreds of airbag problems ... it'd cost about $100. He also said that the place I went to is famous for failing vehicles if brought in by a female on things like the ball joints. Great... I hate the mentality auto shops have about females. I am not saying I know everything about cars, but I know my share. I used to help my dad fix cars when I was younger. Anyway... the mechanic is on vacation through the 9th or so, and he said after he gets back, he'll fix it so it will pass inspection. Yay!!
