the way we blog

We recently relocated to a house closer to where my mom works in Better Living. Even though its been about 2-3 months since then, i still have boxes and old stuff all over the place.

i was attempting (i never seem to succeed) to clean my room sometime last week, when i came across my old journals from third and fifth grade.it was one of those journals that your teacher makes you write in every day. it was thoroughly amusing to read the random rants of a 10 year old RJ. that sparked an instant desire for time travel. i went to my xanga and to my livejournal and just started reading my old entries. then i rummaged through my drawers trying to find my high school and college journals.

as i read through old entry after old entry, i couldn't help but laugh. things are always different in the morning, as i like to put it. and many of the things which troubled me and worried me to death in the past seemed so very trivial now.

another thing that struck me was what i would write about.
my first journals and some of my online journals were more about what was happening to me. i would write about what i did and who i saw and what we talked about.
which is always nice to look back on, we being the forgetful creatures that we are.

but these days, i seem to blog more about what was happening inside of me--what i think or feel about certain things. what i've been learning lately (working in an ad agency and working with creative people) is that those spur-of-the-moment-sometimes-silly ideas just may be what you're looking for.

i think that we need to capture those thoughts and emotions, because they are fleeting.
they make a cameo appearance and before you know it, they have exited stage left. your friends and photos can remind you of what you've done or where you've been. but who else can remind you about that funny thought or that ingenious idea except for your journal?
