Almost trick or treat time

Well, I'm pretty much committed to going to the costume party on Saturday, b/c before I had a chance to decide for sure and maybe say something, the boyfriend had to beg off so Cass'd be going alone otherwise, and she's already quite firmly said that I'm going with her then. Blah. Hopefully it won't be totally excruciating, but I have this feeling that I'm going to end up feeling like a freaking chaperone, lol. She doesn't want to stay late, though, just show b/c she promised she would, so maybe I can talk her into going downtown afterwards?

I don't have anything appropriate I can trash to do Star's zombie idea, plus I have a lot of trouble wearing greasepaint for any length of time, so I'm just going to resurrect the disco-type outfit I wore for 70s day at work a few months ago. At least that looks half-decent on me; I've been tempted to actually wear the beret sometime. I think I could pull it off. Anyway, said outfit consists of:
-red sequined close-fitting beret, almost more like a lopsided toque
-red faux faux-silk pants
-red satin wrap blouse
-gold mesh fabric arranged as a kind of wrap, with the long ends both trailing down the front
-biiig gold hoop earrings

If I can find some big, gaudy "gold" bracelets or a necklace at the dollar store or w/e, that'd be a good addition. And I guess plain black shoes, b/c it's pretty much between those and my once-white sneakers, LOL. It's too fucking cold to wear my gold mesh sandals now.

Any suggestions/revisions to give me, go right ahead. I'm aware that it's not terribly authentic, but it's close enough to qualify as a costume and it's not like I'm out to win a prize or something!
