Cheers to everyone who gave an opinion on my hair! It was actually very helpful, not in determining a precise style so much as providing info that helped me pick a direction. I got it cut yesterday and asked Jack to take a pic for me. It's sort of a little bit pixie but not so short, a little bit messy, and lots of face-framing layers.
It's not actually asymmetrical - the right side is the same length as the left when it isn't tucked behind my ear. She was blow-drying it curved forward like the left side then stopped and poked at it, and said that it did not want to go that way. I laughed and told her no, only one side behaves at a time. So she tucked it back, where it was happier. *g* (Also works nicely with my multitudes of fabric flowers and barrettes and such.) The salon was fantastic, too. I have my pre-paid appointment elsewhere next month, but I'm likely to come back to this one after that.
I really like it. It's fun and cute, easy to take care of, and not inappropriate for work. Speaking of, I probably *could* get away with some form of purple - I did actually see a lady with waist-length, pink and purple vertically striped hair at a sister agency! - but to be honest, I wouldn't be comfortable. My office doesn't have a strict dress code but it isn't quite casual either, and I wouldn't feel properly professional, regardless of what anyone else thought. Though I might try harder if I thought that the purple would be flattering! It wouldn't be though, not as an everyday thing. Even a berry shade, which could definitely pass, is actually too dark - I need to lighten the shade some. For the purple craving, I'll just hit Camden Town next time I'm in London and get a wig. ;-D
