Happy October! Autumn is definitely here. The maples are turning, the nights are getting cold - and long, already, at least to my body clock. I had a very cheap desk lamp whose bulb has burnt out already and I think I may just chuck it and get a SAD lamp, because I think I may need it. It feels like mid- to late November already. :/ I have some work-related news but I want to wait until it's settled into something a little more official than a, "Hi, notice will be forthcoming by email," phone call before sharing.
I picked up some lipgloss on sale earlier in the summer because it was a summery sort of shade - 'Nude Carat' aka a sheer pale nude with a shitload of glitter; goes beautifully with bronzing powder - and I'm almost out. Now I wish I had bought two! The post subject refers to this. I was going to assume that y'all would get that, but upon rereading, that looks less like, "Boo I'm almost out of a lipgloss I liked more than expected and can't buy now," and more like, "I raided Adam Lambert's cosmetics stash and posed for Playboy." So just in case there was any confusion. ;P
I have just been introduced to a band that I LOVE: The Cliks. They are Toronto-based, so I would probably have already heard of them were I still in Canada, but in the UK the only Canadian acts I hear are Bryan Adams, Shania Twain, Celine Dion and the Tragically Hip. Fucking boo, man. What the hell is that? Anyway, have a link to the video for
Dirty King. Great song, interesting video. There's a good interview with the frontman, Lucas Silveira,
here. He looks kinda like Davey Havok, imo, which is interesting since Lucas is an FTM transman. No hormones, though, lest they mess up his gorgeous voice, which puts me in mind of a more melodic Brody Dalle sound. Anyway, check them out - the video's on their YouTube channel, so there's lots of good stuff linked up there.
Speaking of Canadiana, as I was inputting my tags here, the auto-fill suggested 'the_hour' and I went OMG I am so dumb I could have been streaming The Hour for the last couple of months since I acquired Real Internet. *facepalm* ILU George!
The video for Rob's new single
Someday is now up on his site, so if you are like me and not in the US of A, it is now viewable. It's adorable. He gets caught up in a Hope parade in the streets of NYC and runs into bee children and gets hugged by a choir and he looks happy, where he's usually all srs bzns in videos and promotional stuff. Yes, it's kind of hokey but it's lovely and I adore it. In other Rob news, for those that didn't know, he and Mari celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary on Friday. From his Twitter: off to a beautiful anniversary dinner with mari, but we plan on getting really drunk to keep it all rock and roll like. Ahahahaha. ♥
Another tenth anniversary is today: the original air date of the Roswell pilot. Ten years ago. Holy shit. Hello, fandom, thank you for changing my life! *hugs everyone*
