Today has been made of win

The temp job I'm at was advertised a couple weeks ago as a permanent full-time position - I've known it would be since mid-August, and have been encouraged to apply ever since then. The interviews were today (ergo, I obviously could not go to the Canadian uni alumni thing in London after all). Last one was at 3:30 and by 4:30 I had been offered and accepted the position. *glee* Admittedly I did have a significant advantage, having actually DONE the job and going in knowing exactly what they were looking for, but I still scored well above the other applicants and earned it. This makes me happy. No, it isn't what I moved here to do by a long shot - it is, in fact, a weird conglomeration of two of my past jobs, both of which I liked, and atmospherically it's kind of in the middle of them, too. But, you know, the economy is tanking, the jobless rate here is higher than it's been in decades and climbing, and I like this job and the people I work with and the organisation, too - and the coastguard ain't going anywhere, not as a government agency for a kingdom that's an island LOL. Plus it has what my last longterm job did not: potential for upward mobility. So, yes. Colour me very happy indeed. Need to get my official letter and all that still, of course, but V's already talking about what sort of training I can go for and I told her I could work through Christmas, lol. I think I'll wait to tell my family until I have said letter and have signed the actual paperwork, though.

The fact that looking_spiffy and I have tickets to both of Metallica's March dates in London is just icing on the squee cake. *G*
