Back to work
Well, this is my first LJ post. I wasn't gonna post at all, just lurk, but this seems a nice way to vent and to keep in touch with friends.
So, today is my first day back at work after 4.5 months gone. I show up at 8:30 (early for me) ready to meet the chaos that was sure to be work. No one is here. My boss, who is moving to Colorado and could care less anymore, had promised to be here to get me up to speed. I leave her a voicemail as soon as I get here so she knows I'm here. So, 9:00 comes and goes. 9:30. 10:00. 10:30. 11:00. I eat lunch at 11:45, still haven't heard from Marie. I send her an e-mail saying "hey, are you here today". Finally, around 1:30, she e-mails me back and tells me to call her at home. She tells me "of course I'm not coming in today; I won't be there until Thursday. maybe." Why did I come back again? Nobody would have noticed . . .
And, she's giving me stupid stuff like I'm slow or something. Sigh. We go-live in 3 weeks, and I'm doing stuff that the kids on the short bus should be doing. Which isn't much, BTW. I've won many games on my Palm Pilot's solitaire program, however. And those Chicken Teriyaki rice bowls from TJ's are quite good. That's my day.
Of course, I did get the gossip from my friends here, and things have gone all wonky. My co-worker who is my peer and who should also be filling me in barely acknowledged my presence, so that relationship is gonna get weird again. I feel very out of place and I just want to go home and take a nap.
