so i thought i would share with you guys some of my new college marching band experiences...
1. they took us out to burgers the night before band training camp: we managed to fit a large number of people into a small area.
(look for the hot one in the middle)....(duhh, me!)
2. we have a lot of people, so we can make cool shapes out of our horns.
(look for the hot one in the middle, lol)
3. we got to play in very large rooms at UC Davis
4. we get down and dirrty painting the big c at the top of the hill. (i'm in blue and pigtails)
5. we are big, strong, and covered in yellow latex paint.
6. they turned me into a pirate...
7. ....and then made us eat ALL of this ice cream very quickly.
8. and then we got free tee shirts!
9. our first game day was amazing!!
10. I'm looking cool in blue and gold (even though we're wearing wool uniforms in 90 degree heat)

11. Silent walk was like a formal initiation into the band
12. Trumpet newmen are the best newmen in the band!
all in all, this is such an amazing experience, and I wish all you guys were here to enjoy it with me. I know, you all say that college marching band sucks and its only for losers and you never want to do band in your life again, but seriously. these people are amazing.
i just can't believe i wasn't in it last year, and that i went one year of my life without playing an instrument. i dont know what i'm going to do when its over.
additionally, i'm getting a lot better at trumpet and at sight reading. my head hasn't grown any, cuz i still suck and i'm playing second. but i'm practicing at least two hours a day, and i finally have most of my endurance back. my lips have gotten used to the trumpet mouthpiece (finally!) and i don't sound fuzzy anymore, which is a trumpet first for me. i never thought i would like trumpet this much, but so far i'm loving it. (<3 still fhorn at heart, though).
and to jack, if you still read this, (you probably don't), but if you do, then i must congratulate you. because of you, my trumpet was dubbed the "coolest accessorized" out of the whole section because i'm using the zebra-striped cover you gave me. its really awesome and i love it. its getting kind of grimy, though....
well, enough procrastinating.
