Tumblr V Real Blogging

Things I like about Tumblr:
No effort forward, click and reblog pictures.

Things I miss about LJ:
The community.

Srsly. I write things on Tumblr and maybe, MAYBE I get one "like". Questions go unanswered. Feels only reciprocated when you see other people's postings who might have similar feels to you. I mean, I just think back to when I had my ( Read more... )

It almost never goes down, though, which is a plus.

Ya know, I think that's where a lot of people stopped using LJ. Remember a year or so ago when LJ was down for, like, two weeks or something? It was such spotty service no one could log in and actively use their accounts. I know that that was when I really dropped off of using LJ.

They complain about homework and siblings and parents who don't understand and I feel ancient at 26, lol.

OMG I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN. hahahahaha People talking about school and I'm trying to relate, going, "ooh, what's their major? I can talk to them about college horror stories" and then I find out that by "school" they meant high school. O_o I feel like there is a very slim margin of us users who are 25 years and older and therefore, can't relate. ...You know, I wonder if that's why Tumblr is so popular with the young 'uns. [okay i'm gonna start wagging my cane] I feel like the young generation of today have become more and more isolated, yet simultaneously crave popularity. They want people liking their individual posts on Facebook and they're nose-deep in their phones while out with friends, but on the other hand, they want ALL THE FRIENDS on Facebook and Tumblr and Twitter and whatever. What ever happened to communities? Neighborhood kids who played together or hell, online communities that squee'd together? I miss my online community.

...whoops. Sorry. I think my "young 'uns" rant matched your BNF rant. But yes, I've totally seen exactly what you described for BNF. I've actually contacted some "BNF"s in the past and I've almost got condescending responses like I don't know what I'm talking about. =/ Ugh. Let's do a LJ revival.

Unrelated: love your icon. *wibbles* Maybe I should update mine if we're gonna do a revival...

Oh, yeah, I'd forgotten that, but now I remember it I think you're 100% right! People just gave up...

OH SO TRUE. The young ones can't relate to us either, sadly. (I saw someone make a post about how they turned 32 or something and they immediately got like ten reblogs where people went "O_o whaaaaat you're my mom's age?! And you still like Doctor Who? WHAAAAAAAAT o_O"

Where have all twenty-somethings + older ppl gone to? Twitter? I mean, they're not on LJ and also not on Tumblr.

I miss my online community.
Agreed so much. :(

I'm so glad I'm not the only one shaking my cane here, lol. It was a good rant and I agree with you. That's probably exactly why Tumblr's so popular with them...

Oh, man, that's the worst thing! *gag* One person's opinion is worth as much as someone else's. *grumbles*

It's my new favourite! And we should definitely try doing a revival! Um... any ideas? You want some friend suggestions?

Glad you're still around, though! :D

They didn't *really* say that, did they? hahaha
I'm pretty sure they did. If not, it was heavily implied, sadly. As was (paraphrased) "I would never have guessed you were that old/You're much funnier than my mom/I hope I'm like you when I'm your age/Can you make a post about how to tell if a boy likes you or not?" LOLOLOL
