Sirius could have children. He wasn't too interested in them, however. Dealing with his younger brother, Regulus, had been bad enough and he didn't want to deal with kids all the time. Brief visits were good; living with them when they were screaming on one end and pooping on the other was a whole different thing.
Both had reasons that they couldn't--or didn't--want to have kids. However, the one reason they shared as to why kids were an impossibility was their sexuality. They were gay. Adoption wasn't even an option in the Wizarding World, as orphans were simply given to the closest surviving family members--even if that person was a cousin five times removed who lived in Antarctica. Well, the Antarctica thing might be a stretch, given that that was the home of the more modern, liberal witches and wizards.
Surrogacy was not going to happen, and neither men wanted to go through labor pains, let alone the actual pregnancy. There were reasons why men did not have a uterus or ovaries.
The closest thing to fatherhood that each men could get was through coddling Harry, who was the most adorable baby ever. Of course, they could both be a bit biased, given that he was the godson of one man and unofficial godson of the other.
Whenever Remus held little Harry in his arms, Sirius could feel himself falling even deeper in love with his friend. Whenever Sirius played peek-a-boo with Harry, Remus would imagine growing old with Sirius at his side and a little litter of dark-haired, gray-eyed scamps.
The one thing that each man thought, whenever he saw his lover interacting with Harry, was that he would make a wonderful father. Each time, he would always feel a little sad, a little guilty, for depriving the other man of that experience. Then, their eyes would meet, and all thoughts would flee because without the other, neither would be happy, child or no child.
