The men came here to get your Belgium things...

Long time no update it feels like. No better time to write then when I'm running reports at work.

Friday is vacation time. I can't wait. I had a cold last week, but now I'm feeling better and finally getting excited. Matthew and I talked about things we went to do last night, and I had a hard time getting to sleep because I was thinking about it the trip and everything we are going to do.

So, Friday we head out after I get off work, to Portland. We have some reservations for that night, and after that, I don't know where we will be. We are going to do some things in Portland on Saturday, then head over to the Oregon coast. From there, we head down the coast. No plan of how far we will get. I'm hoping to making down south of San Francisco, down to the Hearst Castle.

Because the weather isn't going to be that great in Oregon, and we are coming in 1/3 of the way down the coast, there will probably we be less we do in Oregon. So, it looks like we will probably spend more time in California, but we will see.

At first, I was hesitant about taking this trip, because Matthew has done it twice before, but then I realized I was being stupid. Because it will be him and I together and it will be all new memories. Also, he hasn't been that far south of San Fran, so there will be new things.

So, today I woke excited and I'm sure that will just build over the week. I'm excited about what we will see, what we will eat, and just being away for nine days. Also, we are going to supposedly have 4 days of sunshine this week before we go! Yay! It sunny today, and it was nice yesterday, so that is a much welcome change from the never ending rains.

The only part I'm worried about is leaving Minnie, but I'm sure she will be fine. Some friends are going to watch her, and they really like her, and she seems to like them, so I'm sure it will be good. Minnie is kind of a social cat, so I just don't want her to freak out or something. But, she she is staying at our place, that is familiar, and I'm sure it will be fine. I just love my little lady and want her to be happy. Speaking of which, we had one of our snuggliest, cutest moments to date on Saturday. I was laying in bed reading on Saturday afternoon and she came and sat on my lap and fell asleep, and then I fell asleep for like 45 minutes. She is so sweet. I'm so happy with my cat.

On a more annoyed note, so, who are all these people in North America getting more than 2 weeks vacation a year? We've had people ask us "So are you going for 2 weeks?" And that just makes no sense, b/c that is all the vacation we have all year, and my family lives 3000 miles away. So, of course not. In BC, once you've been working at a company for 5 years, you get 3 weeks. So, Matthew will get 3 weeks soon, and I get an extra day each year, so this year I have 10 days, next year I will have 11, etc. Anyway, the only people I know we more than 2 weeks are people who are union or work the government (which is also union I guess then). So, unless you've been working for the same company for a while, you probably have only 2 weeks a year. So, why would I burn my 2 weeks all on one trip? Obviously, we aren't going to.

Anyway - 9 and 1/2 days will be very nice. I'm looking forward to it. There is much to do this week to get ready, but only a few more days now! yay!!!!!!
