The First Day...

On Friday July 11th, I went to Miami MEPS. The usual procedure happened there. Only 6 of us were going to bootcamp. Only 6 and all 6 of us were going to the Navy which was weirder. I became team leader of the group which meant that I had to take care of the paper work. Which was pretty lame. We through the airport and got on our plane, the last flight as a civilian. We landed in Chicago, IL not knowing what we're really supposed to do. We had our last meal as civilians together, this was the time that we all knew what was happening. We found the sailors at the front of the airport, they told us to just sit there and wait for the rest to come. More recruits came, who knew that there were so many of us coming in at one time. The bus ride to the boot camp was about an hour long... We got to RTC Great Lakes. We walked in, I called Carolyn, my last phone call for 3 weeks, I cried. We got our issue of whatever stuff we were to get that night. We also sent our civilian clothes back home... The drug test... We peed... The weigh in.. I was 23% body fat...

The sit down. This was where we met our Leading RDC. His Name was Chief Johnson. He said, welcome division. People that I knew were in my division except one. He was in our brother division. All we did for the next day was stamp and fold. No sleep. At 2200 the next night we got to sleep. We were all still very scared. VERY SCARED OF BEING HURT... WHAT WERE WE THINKING OF?
