It can be tough. You need strength and training to get through it. But having lived with it for the majority of my life, I wouldn't want to lose it. A few years ago I was briefly put on some telepathy-muting drugs, and I nearly went nuts. People didn't seem real, my language skills suffered, and it was so horribly silent.
