I haven't posted in a while.
One thing Connor and I's relationship taught me is that planning for the future prevents you from living in the moment - so I have adamantly tried not too - but sometimes it's hard, because life does go on whether you're ready for it or not.
Masha, I would super like to see the beach pictures. It would put me in the most wonderful mood ever. You have no idea how much joy just seeing those pictures would bring to me. You can even e-mail them to me. I miss home and the family and Darla a lot, if I had the money I would come home before Thanksgiving.
Other things:
Charlie and I are actually a lot more different than I originally thought. Not a bad thing, just saying.
Martha and I are still not talking.
School things:
To become a certified teacher in Texas you have to take 2 tests. The Pedagogy test (120 bucks) and your content area test, so mine is English 8-12 (Also 120 bucks) I will also take the ESL supplemental test which is ALSO 120 bucks - so to be a marketable teacher in Texas it costs 360 dollars - and that's if you pass on the first time. Haha.
However, after teaching in Texas for 2 years - my Texas Cert. is comparable to most other places in the U.S. including Maryland.
I took my practice content area test and passed it, so I'm feeling confident about taking the official one, which I take at 8:00 AM October 31st.
Future plans: 2 things I am applying for and won't get.
Fulbright in Korea which will have me leaving in July for a year. (I'm not even sure how it works)
Teach for America - 2 years in a place teaching - grad school, which I defer until afterwards.
Meanwhile, take GRE - stay in Texas, go to grad school at night - teach during the day.
I decided I am going to get my Masters of Arts or Science (Haven't decided) in school counseling.
UMD has the best program in the country (According to US news bla bla bla) - Johns Hopkins is up there (My Maryland choices)
Then Texas state and St. Edward's offer solid programs.
Also....App state offers a pretty solid program and it appeals to me because I love that area, I think it is incredibly beautiful - and NC is just about my favorite state - ever.
I kinda wanted to go to grad. school at a big school though. Oh well.
