Graduate Students have to attend the Friday afternoon Colloquim series, speakers from here and around talking about their research. Usually, it has just been a matter of show up, sign-in, and snooze if it is boring or pay attention if it isn't.
Until the evil Graduate School demanded that, since we were getting all of 1 hour credit for it, we had to *do* something more than show up, thereby completely ruining all the napping possibilities. We must write a short summary of the talk, now. But then, the instructor mention that one of the students was doing hers in verse. Ah, ha! At last, some entertainment. And so follows, in the most difficult and highly evolved form of verse, the summary to yesterday's talk:
A Molecular Poem
There once was a protein leinamycin
U.S. Pharmacopeia it'd look nice in
Water soluble it's not
But biotech is hot
New drug from the bug Streptomycaes!
