(no subject)
this is the first opportunity i've really had to update lately. everything's been so crazy, this past few days i've been doing nothing to make up for doing so much.
lets start with a while back, wednesday the 31st. richie, nick, and i drove 2.5 hours (each way) to allentown, pa so we could see remembering never and bury your dead. devildriver was headlining but richie and nick don't like them, and said it was up to me whether i felt like staying around for them, which i didn't because there were so many people there and it was really hot. on the way there somehow i didn't get a ticket i was supposed to get on the pa turnpike. it was really dumb cause all the left lanes just went right through and i couldn't have gotten one if i tried. it must happen all the time though cause they gave me a paper to fill out they let it happen once with no penalties. the place we went, crocodile rock, was set up so bad, when you walk in the stage is almost immediately to the left rather than allowing you some space to walk in, and theres 2 steps down that its too dark to be able to see so everyone's tripping up and down them. the opening band artemis piledriver was soooo terrible. while we were waiting for remembering never, mean pete came up and told richie he put us on the guest list and we could have gotten in for free haha. remembering never was great, pete let people in the crowd sing lots of parts, richie got to sing a lot of it. bury your dead was fucking insane, i was pretty scared to deal with those people though cause the crowd was going nuts. by the time they were done we were all definitely very ready to leave though it was unbearably hot in there.
thursday june 1st, picked up johnny, shayne, and calin from the airport. johnny was coming from portland, shayne from wyoming, and calin from florida, so their planes all arrived different times and they had to hang out at the airport til i could get there after work. then we had to figure out everything for the party we were having later that day. they do this thing called "the hurrah" every few years, whenever they can all get together, where they play music together, and this was going to be another hurrah (all 3 of them plus luke was going to play drums). we had a guy coming with a pa, and they had to rent amps from a music store before we could even get started setting up. we planned on having the hurrah in the back yard of my house.
the pa guy showed up and he was kinda giving them shit, he thought we were gonna play "heavy metal music" and he didn't believe johnny when he said we weren't. then it started raining, then POURING. obviously we couldn't do it in the backyard anymore so we had to figure out what to do. next best thing was the dining room. so we moved the dining room table into the kitchen (if you know the size of my house you'll understand how ridiculous this is) and set up. there wasn't much room for anything else but we made it work. they played their songs and josh recorded it. a few people came but not too many, which was actually better cause there wouldn't have been room for any more. got a little drunk, richie and i got in a fight with nick but it was stupid and only really came up cause we were drinking. other than that it was fun, and roy was acting like a douche at the end. had to basically make him leave cause hinting that its 2:30am and we need to drive to nj tomorrow wasn't enough.
friday drove the 3 hours to new jersey for chiller theatre, a horror convention. it actually took longer than that cause it was pouring so bad i could barely see out the window. all 5 of us (me, richie, johnny, shayne, and calin) stayed in one room with 2 beds at the holiday inn, a few minute drive away from the convention. the valet parking situation was shit, and the "bistro" was a poor excuse for a restaurant. we managed to have a blast though.
friday we went to the convention for an hour (it was pretty late by the time we got there). i bought some things, zombie artwork, i love it, gotta hang it in my house, and saw all the collectable stuff they had for sale there. after that richie and i were pretty tired but johnny, shayne, and calin met up with johnny's cousin who lives in new york for some drinks.
saturday we spent the morning meeting the celebrities they have there. met the clown's brother from devil's rejects, got him to sign a picture for me, and one for heather and mike. he told us about another convention he'll be at in maryland which is in august. also met a bunch of the main characters from the hills have eyes. there were so many people there i had no idea, there was cameron from ferris bueller's day off, zed from pulp fiction, the mom from e.t., the waitress from pee wee's big adventure, a couple guys from star trek, and a bunch more i'm sure i'm forgetting. shayne was really excited about meeting zacherly again (he and johnny went together to the same convention last year). i didn't know who he was until then, he's in his 80's now, but he's basically a horror legend, he had a show in the 50's and 60's i think.
during the day saturday all of us except shayne went to new york to go to the alex grey museum (cosm). shayne stuck around and got to perform with zacherly (shayne brings his guitar everywhere), and someone recorded it. he was really really happy about it. later johnny, shayne, and calin went out to the city to meet his cousin again, and richie and i stayed at the hotel to get some rest. richie and i got drunk within half an hour of them leaving and were about to take a shower when we heard "housekeeping" at the door. they kept saying "housekeeping" and i said "umm no" and "go away we're fucking naked". it was shayne doing a woman's voice haha, he came back to get something and the bus didn't show up but they ended up taking a cab instead.
sunday we didn't do much, drove home, the drive wasn't bad this time. sooooo tired by then. johnny wanted to go out again to take advantage of the time he had here. apparently he got really drunk and made an ass of himself, but i was sleeping so i didn't get to witness it. had to drive them to the airport monday. johnny was a wreck. he called me the next day and told me he almost wanted to get off the plane and stay here cause he missed us so much.
