tuesday my mom went with me to a bridal shop, and i actually found 3 dresses i really like! the best part is, they're actually considered prom dresses, so they're so much cheaper! the woman working there was extremely helpful, i told her i wanted something different, something possibly with color on it, and i showed her in a magazine the type of style i like. she pointed me towards a designer i had checked out online and loved, alyce designs. i won't spoil anything by mentioning which ones i picked, but i'm going to need some help deciding, so that's where heather and breanna come in! and actually i found the bridesmaids dress i want there too so at some point we'll all have to figure out a day that works for us so that we can all go up there and check it out together. i actually tried on another dress very similar in style to the ones i really liked, this one was considered a wedding dress. the woman working there explained to me the difference, that wedding dresses are heavier and usually have more of a train. i prefer the lighter ones without a train, so good for us for saving money. 2 of the dresses i liked were actually there in a color i wouldn't want, but i can tell what they would look like. it's as easy as ordering it in the right size and color. the woman said that since it's not prom season there's a chance they might not have them in stock right now, but they start making prom dresses again in january, so i can order it then if it's not available now. so glad this turned out to be so much easier than i thought!

my mom recently got a new job. she has always worked part time ever since we were little, originally so that she could be home in time to see us when we got home from school. she had been with the same job for 16 years, but decided it was time to get a full time job with benefits, so that when my stepfather retires they won't have to worry about insurance, and so that with making more money they can start paying everything off now. she was offered $10,000 more a year than what she asked for, and she's only been there maybe a month now and she's doing so well they already gave her a $50 a week raise! it's so nice to be appreciated for doing a good job. she was really upset and worried about getting/starting a new job at this point in her life but it looks like it's gonna work out well. the only thing that sucks is that since she's out of work at 5 now instead of 2, there's less time for us to spend together, and less time to do wedding stuff. my mom and i are really close, and usually at least once a week, on one of my days off she always comes over after work and helps me out with whatever i need her for. i don't know what i would do without her. i'd be so lost in just about every aspect of life if she wasn't always there pushing me to do what i need to do.

engagement, mom
