saw silverchair at the 930 club last night. although i don't really like their new album, i love their first 3 albums and thought it would be cool and nostalgic, since they rarely tour the united states. i've actually never seen them before, and i've liked them for literally half my life, since i was 12 haha! had no idea how many people are still into their either, it was a sold out show.

they of course look totally different now, they're like 27 or 28 now, and of course what they look like in my head is still what they looked like way back when. daniel johns looked like a pirate, it was quite confusing. he explained the eye patch, but due to his thick accent, i couldn't understand a fucking word of it besides that he had a black eye and "oww". the doo rag, wtf? i'm pretty sure he has hardly any hair to worry about anymore, based on recent pictures i've seen.

unfortunately, they didn't play many old songs. hearing "emotion sickness" made it all worth it though, that was truly awe inspiring. one of my favorite songs by them. i don't actually know the names of the new songs at all, but as far as older songs go they also played "ana's song", "the door" (started by saying "sounds of the 90's lol), "without you", "the greatest view", hmm i think that's it. was a little distracted by the scent of the 930 club's nasty smelling food since we were right by the concession stand. i don't know when they started doing primarily vegan and vegetarian menu, but that shit smells awful.

left before their encore, and according to something i just read on lj, they played "freak" during that. i just would have liked to have heard more older stuff since the last time i knew of them playing in the states i think i was too young to even go to concerts, and that's really saying something. we still had a good time though.

marilyn manson on monday! i'm starting to get giddy!!

concerts, silverchair
