i've been to a few more doctors and still no definitive answer. and apparently the diagnosis of "malrotation of bowel", while presented to me as the diagnosis at the ER, was written on the paper they sent to my doctors as "possible malrotation of bowel". so they're not even sure if that's what it is. i went to a surgeon on thursday to talk about all of this and i thought he was a much better doctor than anyone else i've talked to so far, but he also doesn't have it all figured out. from taking all these pain meds, everything is all backed up in addition to the pain i was having before, so he's got me taking various fiber supplements and laxatives, and i'm supposed to get an appointment with a GI doctor who specializes in the digestive tract next, and probably get a colonoscopy among other tests. she's the same doctor that my mom has been to before and my mom says shes great. the doctor i saw thursday said he's not sure if i will need surgery or not, but for now i don't. checked into my family's medical history and turns out we have a long line of digestive problems. 3 out of 4 of my grandparents had crohn's disease, my mom has acid reflux, my aunt has colitis, my uncle has colon cancer. so hopefully we'll figure out the pain is related to some genetic disease and i'll know what to do to stop the pain. this is pathetic, i'm wishing for a disease so that the pain will stop. i'm trying to take as little of my pain meds as possible for now. still sucks.
