went to see tool at the verizon center (mci center, whatever) saturday night. its in dc, which takes about an hour to get to, the tickets say doors at 8, so we left at 7. got to the venue slightly after 8, and due to the large size of it, and the lack of decent parking, didn't get inside the venue til around 8:45. and we fucking missed isis completely because of it. apparently they started playing at 8, and were done by 8:30. shitty. normally the venue has a large general admission section in the middle, where you stand. but for this they had fold out chairs there. richie's sister works for ticketmaster so we got ours real early, got something like 10 rows back, and didn't even have to pay anything for them. the guy next to me started talking to me, he's from memphis tennessee and he and his friend paid $300 each for their tickets. haha! tool was amazing as always. they had some monitors in the background with crazy images on them that went along perfectly with the songs, and later on some lasers that if i was on hallucinagenic drugs i would be freaking out. they played basically what i thought they'd play, the older songs that people want to hear (not any obscure ones though, i would have liked to hear some more older ones), and mostly the new stuff. maynard was sporting a mohawk, a cowboy hat, and a big belt buckle. an outfit that could only be attractive on him. we left a few minutes early to avoid being stuck for an hour in the parking garage, which would have no doubt happened.

after that went to nick's ghetto themed party. we weren't sure whether we would be able to make it, so we didn't get to go all out with the costumes like i would have liked to. got instant rapper kits from party city, they came with gold teeth, gold chains, and money sign rings. some people came up with funny stuff, nasty fake hair, fake tattoos of baby daddys names, lots of gold jewelry and baggy clothes. was fun til eventually random black guys in the neighborhood started inviting themselves and it became an actual ghetto party rather than a making fun of ghetto party. and i managed not to get a hangover the next day, always a plus. i neeeeed to get my tattoo worked on this week.
