Funny to watch the changes of my life as they show in the details. I ended a subscription to the New Yorker that was eight years running when the wind started blowin' me around, away from Portland; now that i've settled back down, i have magazine subscriptions again, but now they're for Yoga Journal and Mother Earth News--out of my head and onto ( Read more... )

i bought a biography of bronson and louisa may alcott- it's this thickthickthick hardcover boo. i thought i would really love it but i'm finding it so boring!!!

Actually, maybe it would. I've read a few bios in my time, but for the most part that always seemed like such iffy territory--another set of books i'd started reading without finding any desire to finish. I'd like someone to sell me on one bio in particular, that's the way to go. Any you love?

I've also been devouring Anodea Judith's (in the frontiers-of-psychology department) Eastern Body Western Mind which integrates chakra theory with Jungian thought forward and is Fuckin Brilliant. I let them shut down my entire library account while i continue to hold this book hostage till i'm done with it and have ordered mine own copy.

haha, as a child i was obsessed by the alcott family and their quest to form a utopian society where knowledge and good manners were cherished.

i'm gonna drag that sucka with me on my snowboarding trip and plow through it.
