im a little sick of repeating to everyone the same things about my trip when i am asked so i have caved and will blog my trip.
not that i think anyone will read it or anything, but this way when i am asked, i can just link people and not have to do it more than once.
i am lazy, deal with it.
paris is amazing. i love it here. chels and i have been making the most of our time. the first day (or was that the second? dont know) we walked from notre dame to the eiffel tower and then the second day we went to the louvre and sacre coeur. and then third day we went back to sacre and then ran around the sex district which i must admit is tres chic.
food isnt too expensive. went to this awful japanese restaurant the other day and it was nice being able to read the menu because it was in japanese translations which is nice. anyway we got through an entire meal without anyone noticing that we spoke no french.
taking lots of photos of course. the class im taking is mostly beginners so its a little annoying to be taught everything i know already. so mostly i just leave when that happens. there are also too many people in the class and the darkroom is supercrowded. for anyone that knows how i work at risd in the tiny tiny darkroom with my music blasting dancing occasionally topless if it gets too hot, you know this is a problem for me. i dont mind so much when the beginner people ask me questions except when they ask questions they could figure out for themselves like how many negatives can fit in one sleeve. as if it is a set number that i have memorized?
we got a lecture from the director (i think director? some guy who is in charge) pierre-yves mahe on a system that he invented called the stop system. since i was the only major there and he knew it, he would ask me all the questions and then when i answered he would say no that is wrong but its ok because thats jsut what all the books say and then he'd say i should do it his way. it was a bit embarassing actually. i dont like his system because it is so formula based and i cant work that way. and also i clearly do not see the same way that he sees. still the lecture was amusing and he is a cute old frenchman.
went on a museum trip with the class yesterday for the first time. the woman who takes us to the museums is so cute. her name is nicole and she carries around this long stick above her head with a reindeer up top that says welcome so that we can all see her since she is short and she doesnt want to lose all of us. its really cute. totally ridiculous since we are a large group of about 15 american girls and then her, so people look at us.
this on sunday i think i am going to versailles. unless frole visits. in which case i'll go another time. next weekend i am off to brussels and then possibly the weekend after that to amsterdam.
paris is great. everything here is totally accessible and person-sized. i feel really comfortable just running around. the metro system is really simple and convenient which is really good for me because i get lost a lot of the time. all the time.
not making friends with the french students because they keep to themselves. met this girl katie who is supercool and me and chelsea do enjoy her company. but she is a risd student.
i farted in front of the mona lisa. :)
