Trip to Georgia recap.
The trip to Georgia was really fun. On Friday, Matt picked me up from my house, and we drove down to stay the night at his sister Jenny's house in Atlanta. We got there sometime early that afternoon, and played with her puppy Ollie to pass the time until her husband Dave got off work. Ollie is a black lab and hound mix, and is the most playful puppy I've ever met. Matt and I played with him pretty much all afternoon and evening, and he never seemed to get tired. We also watched the piece that Jenny wrote and produced on Jim Henson and the Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts for State of the Arts. (You can find it online
here if you want to watch it.) I love Jim Henson and thought she did an amazing job on this piece. She also told us her team got nominated for an Emmy for another piece they did, which is freaking awesome. :D After that, we watched the episode of SNL with Steve Carell hosting. I loved the
Japanese Office skit. XD It's far superior to either the British or the American version. "Pamo Pamo Pamo Pamooooooooooo-SAAAN! :D" (Also, Kacey, the Hello Kitty tampons reminded me of Hank so much. xD) We also got a fairly nice thunderstorm during this, and we think that lightning hit the house next to us. D: That was not fun.
Dave brought pizza back with him, and as soon as Jenny sat down with her's, Ollie licked it. It was so cute. XD Later we played Harry Potter Scene It. At one point, we had the bit where it asks you to put images together to form a character's name. The images were of a rabbit, an E, a cauldron, and an R. They were supposed to form "Harry Potter," but Dave's first reaction while everyone else yelled "Harry Potter" was "RABBITY POTTER?!" Once he realized what he'd said, he said, "Well, Rabbity Potter was the cousin they never really talked about. >_>" We died laughing. Later, he had some question asking him for the title of the second book/movie, and he couldn't remember it. He pissed around for a bit trying to think of it while we all sat going, "Oh, come ON! It's so easy!" and finally he was like, "Wasn't that the one with the snake? Oh jeeze, I dunno. Lair of the Snake?" to which we all died. Rabbity Potter and the Lair of the Snake. I still laugh thinking of that. We watched Anchorman, too. I love lamp Brick.
The next day, Matt's parents came and we all got ready to drive to the wedding in LaGrange, where he grew up. Matt and I left earlier than everyone else so he could show me around town. We ate at Charlie Joseph's before the wedding in case we didn't like the hors d'oeuvres, and he showed me his old house. We were almost late to the wedding because we missed the turn and tried to go around the block, but we ended up having to turn around because there was no road back to the highway. The wedding itself was in an Episcopal church, and had the full Communion service attached. It was very long, but interesting since I'd never seen Communion or anything like that before. The reception was very nice, too. The hors d'oeuvres were actually very tasty and included steak, and there was a lot of wine, which made me happy. :D I'm not a wino, I swear. We stayed at the reception for a while and chatted with his old neighbors, who were really awesome and funny. Matt and I left before his parents and went back to the hotel to swim, which was a huge mistake since the water was freezing from where it had rained the day before. I made him watch an episode of Code Geass, which was better than he thought it was going to be. (I might try to get him to watch another episode, too. >D) Later, we ate with his parents at a Mexican restaurant. His dad is so nice and is such a geek. He's awesome. xD
On Sunday, we visited his friend Amy at her new house near Greenville. It's a 1920's businessman's house that they are remodeling, and it looks like it's going to be very pretty once they finish it. Matt talked with Amy's husband and one of their friends for a while about some engineer thing while Amy and I sat there and picked out the words that we knew, like "light bulb" and "youtube." On the drive back to the interstate, we noticed that we were near Gay, GA, and having the sense of humor of 5 year olds we cracked up. We also noticed that there was a road called "Gay Connector," and that it was located right next to the prison. Understandably, we died. Leave it up to me to notice these things. :D
So, all in all, we had a lot of fun. I could've put in a bit more snark, but my brain is broke. :(
Also, I started reading Yotsubato!. So far, it's ten times better than Azumanga Daioh, which I also loved. I'll probably make icons soon.
