Well, I'm back from my long-ish cruise vacation in the Caribbean. Lots of time on planes today, etc., whee. Ah, the food on the ship was good, I'll miss it (>.>). I must admit, I'll have to get used to not hearing Rachel Quinn's ubiquitous voice in the morning ("Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, IT'S TIME FOR WORK AND SCHOOL"), and not having my room cleaned daily by Spartaks (that's such a cool name), too. St. Maarten/St. Martin was nice (it seemed a lot less trashy this time), as was St. Thomas. Over the past msec (two weeks, for you people who don't use Qeng Ho time), I've been in four or five different countries. France (St. Martin), Netherland Antilles (St. Maarten), the U.S. (St. Thomas, and obviously the mainland), the Bahamas (Castaway Cay), and maybe even the the national coastal waters of the Dominican Republic (and possibly other countries?). Ah, the food
For some reason, it seems like I attract people when I'm alone. Bleh, why can't they just understand that being alone is not the same as being lonely?
I'm going to finish A Deepness in the Sky tonight, at long last. I really hope that my copy of the C++ Primer Plus, 4th Edition has gotten in. Anyway, I have to due a lot of catch-up reading in my various books for tomorrow, including:
- Chapter 2 of RotK (should have finished the book a year ago)
- Book 4 of Paradise Lost (should have finished the book two months ago)
- Chapters 27-30 of Lord of Chaos (should have finished this book a while ago, too. Still, I doubt I'll finish even these chapters tomorrow)
Hrm, more extraneous crap. While I'm at it, my laptop is making a strange humming noise, and it's kind of scaring me.
Now, for the obligatory rant on my grandmother. Why is it that she thinks that gifts incur debt, that doing nice things for someone means that they can get along with - and think good of - you? She seems to think that she can criticize me about work that I do for her because she can't do it herself, and then turn around and reprimand me about how beggars can't be choosers at every opportunity. She makes incorrect conclusions based on incorrect assumptions and incomplete information, all the while thinking that she is the One True voice of reason and common sense. Her devotion to her religion and her traditionalistic values is nigh on sickening, and her veiled requests that younger family members bow to her every whim are barely tolerable. Unfortunately, she bankrolls just about everything that I do (see complaint #2). Gevalt.

Slashdot. It looks VERY COOL. It fully automates your home, and... it's based on Linux! Heheh, if anyone is out there reading this... I want that for my birthday! Hell, it doesn't have to be my birthday; I'll take one any time!
Ack, I have a lot of catching up to do in Gray.
