I've started on Uberman's Sleep Schedule. The idea is that by taking a 20 minute nap every 4 hours (and not sleeping at any other times) you can train yourself to go into REM instantly, thereby getting a full 2 hours of REM per day, which is better than the supposedly required 1.5 hours. This means that you end up more rested than people who actually get 8 hours of sleep per night, but you still have 22 waking hours of the day! My nap times are 00:00, 04:00, 08:00, 13:00, 16:00 and 18:00. As you can see I had to stretch and compress some of the times to fit my school schedule, but it all adds out to the same.
Experiment with the Uberman Sleep Schedule: LOG.
- 10/14/03, 23:57 (Before nap #2): Feeling fine, everything seems normal.
:: SLEPT FROM 10/15/03, 00:00 to 10/15/03, 00:20.
- 10/15/03, 00:20 (After nap #2): Feeling fine, everything seems normal.
- 10/15/03, 03:57 (Before nap #3): Showered early. Feeling a bit tired, but still fine.
:: SLEPT FROM 10/15/03, 04:00 TO 10/15/03, 07:11 (ack! I forgot to turn my alarm off).
- 10/15/03, 07:21 (Before leaving for school): Did not wake up from last nap until a bit ago. Watch alarm didn't wake me, clock alarm was off.
- 10/15/03, 08:00 (Before nap #4): Feeling fine, though a bit tired.
:: SLEPT FROM 10/15/03, 08:00 TO 10/15/03, 08:18.
- 10/15/03, 08:20 (After nap #4): Feeling pretty good, more energetic.
- 10/15/03, 13:10 (Before nap #5): Feeling fine. Still a bit tired.
:: SLEPT FROM 10/15/03, 13:10 TO 10/15/03, 13:25.
- 10/15/03, 13:30 (After nap #5): I dreamt briefly! This instant-REM training might be starting to work! I'm feeling refreshed.
Not that you really care about that, but I'll probably be posting those until I adapt to this. So bih.
