Yachiru's Awesome Pwns All
So finally, here we have it. The long-overdue Katsucon-rant.
So I barely made it to katsu, given my financial situation. And perhaps I should have just cut my losses and not gone, but I really needed the mental break. And that doesn't even take into account all the crap with the car. Mine is dead, so by the time we finally were able to rent one at like midnight, we ended up driving all night to the con. And I had the flu the entire time. It wasn't as cold as it was last year, which meant no snow. And while that was good, seeing as I wandered around the whole con in flipflops or waraji, it was sortof sucky because I'd really looked forward to some snowy pictures.
I have revised my opinion of the Omni Shoreham. They SUCK. They send out emails giving completely wrong information, we pay nearly 700$ for a room that doesn't even have a MICROWAVE, they charge us out the ass for parking DOWN THE STREET, and then they take forever to actually CHARGE the credit card. Ugh, idiots.
The con itself was a lot of fun, we met some really cool people. I got to debut my Yachiru costume, though I had to go with a cheap dealer-room temp wig (also with my Hiyori costume) because the wigs didn't come in the mail until a few days AFTER con. But that was alright, I still had an amazingly good time cosplaying her. I mean, srsly. I get to jump up and down, run around con at breakneck speeds, drag my sword after me, chew on people's heads, give them silly nicknames, and be hyperactive. WIN, srsly. And with Bya-nii as Ken-chan, it was even more fun. I actually can't wait until I have a daughter, so I can dress Hirako up as Kenpachi and HER up as Yachiru.
Hiyori's costume was a bit les endearing, seeing as I now have a burning hatred for jersey-based materials. I want to remake it at some point, and find some way to do so that will keep it from doing all the stretching and puckering it did this time. Not to mention the pants ended up a tad more low-cut than I'd thought they would, so really the whole outfit needs remaking, but it looks alright for now. I'm also going to have to make my own flipflops, seeing as the yellow paint flaked off of them.
The drive home was actually easier than the drive there, we ended up having a lot of fun overall, even with me being sick, and our various wig issues. I'll be putting up con-pics on the other journal at tasogarecosplay later today, so feel free to check it out.
