And the bundle arrives...

May 19, 2008 12:35

Saturday we went to triage at the hospital to rerun the tests I did on Thursday (basically checking amniotic fluid and such). They results were super low on Saturday so a decision was made to admit us and medicine was going to be given to me to make my body ready for picodin (medicine to induce).

I went to sleep at 10:30 (had the medicine at 3pm) and woke up around 1am to contractions that were coming every 5-10 minutes. Fast forward to 10am or so and the nurse is happy with the results of the medicine and declares me safe for the epidural. It couldn't have come too soon. My contractions were every 1-2 minutes at that point and ow.

One epidural later and I'm a happy camper. I don't get to start the actual pushing until around 8:40 or so. I actually had a pretty tame labor after the epidural. I wasn't feeling pain anymore and was calm. I was, however, exhausted so I slept a lot.

Once I got to the pushing, it didn't take long for the baby girl to arrive.

9:10pm little Eliska Belle Kelly was born weighing in at 7 pounds 4 oz and measuring 19 1/4 inches long. We have named her after one of my aunts and my mom (my mom's name is Maybelle).

I'll post pictures when I get home. The Swedish wireless network does not want to work with picasa for some reason and keeps blocking the url.

Both Jeremiah and I are exhausted but happy.
