Birthday trip was rad. Which I needed after drilling into my thumb the day before leaving. Even when I plan for an awesome birthday, I manage to fuck it up somehow lol
Rented a really nice car Friday morning, picked Liz and JohnBradley up, drove to Portland, fell in love with a ton of stuff at Paxton Gate. Ended up getting a beautiful mint colored leaf bug, a turtle skull that looks suspiciously dinosaur-like, some glass eyes, a pin for Bill, and a couple of things for Savannah since she was unable to come. Went to Powell's and found a book that I had wanted for a while, and discovered a couple others. Basically ended up spending all available money within a period of just a few hours. Got back in the car and drove for a while, so we'd have less distance to drive the next day. Liz found those fake-butterfly-in-a-jar things at a Walgreens (wtf), and bought me one, and then we got back on the road again. Stayed at a Best Western, went in the hot tub for a bit, watched terrible tv, had trouble sleeping for... various reasons. Got up and had a nice pancake breakfast, despite not being a huge fan of sweet food first thing in the morning. Drove down to Winston, went through the Wildlife Safari, which was awesome because since we were there earlier in the day this time, a lot more of the animals were basically just hanging out on the road. Got a really good view of a giraffe's armpit, got freaked out by the bison, see some elk's adorable neckbeards, hang out with the crazy emus. Drove back up to Portland, went to Ikea, which ended up being mildly pointless but fun, nonetheless, and then back to Paxton Gate for a second run. Then drove home Saturday night.
Scads of fun, which I fully intend to do again. Next time with more time allowance, and some side trips, including Crater Lake.
Sunday, we picked Diana up and went to South Center for a few hours for the Pokemon Black and White promotional thing, bought a few things, won a few others, and then headed down to Tacoma mall to check out their Pokemon Center. All in all, a successful weekend, and I got a bunch of exercise.
And, as if the weekend hadn't been awesome enough, I had the presence of mind to have Bill take Monday off of work, too, so we still had a day to just lay around like walruses at the end of it. Awe~some.
Spent a few days getting back into the groove of things, helping out at the shop, getting back to regular life.
Then this weekend, Savannah gave me a little Eevee toy, treated me to an Olive Garden dinner, I tried and actually quite enjoyed their calamari, and we hung out for a while. With the exception of her pets having terrible troubles, it was really wonderful to see her again (Although, I'm glad we were there and could help with that part, too). I loved hanging out and chatting with her, watching Record of Lodoss War and having funfetti cake and feeling nostalgic.
Easily the best birthday I've had yet. I'm glad it got drawn out over the course of several days, it made it that much more exciting. And I'm stoked about having been able to basically spend it with all of my best friends. :3
