Just a phone call would do, he thinks and he waits, sprawled all over his bed. He closes his eyes and supposes just a ring would be fine, even just once, even if he hangs up before Kame answers. Anything, just anything that would tell him he still cares, no, maybe even just remember, just a sign that somewhere at the back of Jin's mind, there's still that little speck of a memory of him that remains.

He turns and sees a picture frame on top of his bedside drawer. There's a photograph of Jin and him in it, dating back before KAT-TUN debuted. He remembers the good old days, when Jin and him were still bestfriends, when all they had was each other. Jin would always run to him whenever other juniors found a way to bully him behind Kame's back. He would cry the loudest when Yamapi and him would have a fight, and Kame would always try to be a bridge to bring them back together. It never crossed his mind of how a burden it was to have Jin relying heavily on him, even though other people complained about his lack of maturity. It didn't matter.

He touches the necklace he's wearing and smiles sadly. It's Jin's, well it used to be, until he accidentally left it during a sleepover at Kame's house and forgot to get it back. It has a pair actually, Kame has one too, the left side of a silver heart. They'd bought them a long time ago, when they were still kids, in a little shop they used to pass by when they walked home together. Kame wonders why he didn't just return it at work, but he remembers that he'd wished that Jin would be the one to come and get it back. But it never happened. He never came back, and when Kame found out a couple of days after he'd left it that he and Yamapi were already bestfriends, he never wondered anymore.

It wasn't an accident. He did it on purpose.

Until now, Kame doesn't know why he left him, doesn't understand what went wrong, what he did and didn't do that could've turned everything upside down. He wishes he could revert things to the way they were, but they're all just that, wishes. Maybe if he had the chance to change the past he could still fix things, prevent them from turning out this way.

It's silly for him to be thinking of such impossible things, things that would never happen. He knows there's no room for regret and that he's just wasting his time over a mistake that's never going to be right, like a scar that never heals.

But then again, they still sing together, after all. Maybe he can pretend they're still bestfriends, that they know each other like the lines of their hands and laugh like the old times.

They can part ways after that, like nothing's happened, like they're complete strangers. His dream ends that way, but he smiles like it's okay because nothing good ever lasts. He knows it from experience and he thanks Jin for that, despite everything.
