Dragon Age RPG

I gave the Dragon Age RPG by Green Ronin a test run for character creation.  There was a slight problem with creating the type of character I wanted, until I was pointed to the errata.  Once that was done, things weren't so bad, and I found I was quickly and easily able to make my character based on concept ( Read more... )

I wonder just what you call a 'derp' moment in this case.

Between what you've said and a few other reviews, I think I would be primarily disappointed by the narrowness of it. $30 (give or take) seems pretty steep for five of an intended twenty levels, three classes (without Grey Wardens, Templars, or any other variants), and what sounds like fairly limited setting information between two 64-page books.

Well, in the main rulebook, they mention the 'scout' talent requires you to have Dexterity (Stealth). Only two background gives you Dexterity (Stealth), which are City Elves, and I think a mage background, thus preventing rogues from having scouting unless they're city elves. This got fixed in the errata, turning the prerequisite to Dexterity + 2.

The other one was me wondering if a PC starts with a free Talent at level 1 (no), and if they can take any other foci (no). Chargen is very narrow in focus, making everyone (more or less) pretty much the same at Level 1, but allows for expansion out as you gain levels.

Oooh I like that 'double equals stunt' idea. I often lament that so many RPGs don't have a 'cinematics' modifier.
