OK So whilst waiting for some stuff to run at work I decided to do a number of those in x fandom you area after answering 15-20 questions.
The outcome was a Bizzare mix
NCIS -- Ducky
Battle Star Galactica -- Starbuck
Firefly -- River
Redvers blue -- Grif
Harry Potter -- Hagrid
the Avatar -- Katara
CSI Miami -- Alexx Wood
So I can only conclude that the system they use is VERY random. It would have to be one hell of the universe in which Ducky and Starbuck and River could be considered similar.
However, having started to do these I'll keep adding, and see if a pattern forms.
