i'm back :)

the internet at my hostel has been down for a couple of days so while the interesting stuff started happening i couldn't tell anyone else about it! how annoying... anyway, at the moment i'm feeling a bit ill and can't sleep so here i am at 6am writing with insomniac crazed energy.

1st day

i was feeling really nervous and talked to only 1 new person. i hated the way everyone seemed to know everyone when actually it was just that the people who knew others were louder and more noticable. we were put into sets acording to our ballet ability and i'm in the 4th out of 5 sets *cringe* i really wasn't expecting that! it made me paranoid and i'm over most of it now but i'm still a bit embarrassed to tell people. its a bit stupid because its a musical theatre course, not a ballet course so i actually have not much to worry about. but still. no one ever wants to admit they're 2nd from the bottom at something.

we had a general physio session and at one point i was asked to demonstrate. turns out that i have really tight something-or-others (those ligaments and muscles abouve your quads) which is messing with my posture. it is apparantly very likely that i will damage my knees in full time training at some point soon. thankyou doctor >.<

so end of first day, not feeling to good about things. stayed up late talking to jazz (aforni ) in our room. which was a mistake because we were sooo tired for the next day.

2nd day

we had a couple of lectures including one HIV talk. i really love my colleges attitude - Francis who is the resident lawyer, manager and college agent said that we were getting the talk simply because knowledge is power and we're all young adults now. i suppose you'd expect that at all good learning institutes but for a dance college its very different. they don't generally like free thinkers at dance college. its usually a bit old fashioned. so that was cool. what was not cool was that some people at the back were talking all the way through it. at one point one of the boys at the front (who was gay and perhaps especially interested) had to stand up and tell them to have some more respect. a lot of us were pissed off with them. oh well. i found my crush in that lecture. some girl called sam (who has no idea who i am and is in one of the top ballet sets but anyway) who has a very husky voice and ginger hair. she had respect for the HIV guy and was also very interested. (haha, i'm wishing ;) )

we had a jazz assesment which was like auditioning again - we had to wear numbers and leanr a routine and dance it in 3's at the end. eugh. i dont think i got it right once. well nevermind, if you're at the bottom you can always work your way up to the top.

that night i went walking with laura to the swimming pool (i dont swim but she wanted company). it was a 40 minute walk each way. i was knackered!

3rd day

was much better. ballet is getting better, i did some weight training and i did a tap assesment. also we had singing! i can sing so it was good. they asked about previous musical experience and it was dead good to be able to tell them all this stuff about the royal northern college, my harp and my a grade at gcse. ha. prima ballerinas can't sing either! they've spent too much time on ballet! (in your face!! hahaha) ...ahem.

i have some new friends now too who are living in the convent down the road by accident. they're living there by accident because it doesn't tell you its a convent (and i'm not sure it actually qualifies as one) but its certainly run by nuns. seriously. they fucking hate it. there's a bell for breakfast and if you don't go down for it they keep ringing it until you get the picture. they have to be in on weekdays by half 9 and weekends by half 11. they can stay out longer but they have to tell one of the sisters beforehand. there's a mother superior too!! they get a tiny bowl of cereal for breakfast and one of them is paying £80 a week for a 4 person room. can you believe that??? they're both moving out in october.

i suppose its time for my breakfast now which will be toast with fried eggs and beans. really nice but everyone gets wind man, its just not environmentally friendly. better than convent food though. i stopped complaining about everything here once i found out about that place.
