I listen to your music, to your melody
As I lull myself to sleep with your memory
You were once so warm, keeping me dry from the rain
Holding me close, healing my pain
But its long been dry, and the rain has fallen again
Your melody is far from me my friend
I never wished for your absence
And I never wished for you to hurt
Could you believe me if you tried?
Could you trust your heart?
And I am so sorry for all the things that transpired
I had no reason to light all this on fire
Watching it burn as we both walk
In separate directions
Walking along a thin line of wire
Hope to not miss my footing
Have to find the quickest way back to you.
So I listen to the wind, as it hums along
To the melody you sing
To your music
To your song.

So far from what I called home
Its hard to not realize that I am alone
I wish the for the arrival of my return
But will home really feel like home
After all this time alone?
These worn out faces around me have
All giving up on the chance for survival
But they are in denial of their defeat
Quietly looking for a place to retreat.
Rest now, it will soon come
time for us to do what’s been undone.
Its hard to have faith in the continuous living
Even after death
But we all pray for our own eternal rest
How quickly we give up in the face of adversity
Just because we are in an unfamiliar city
So we lock ourselves behind our gated securities
Build up walls, no stranger will enter without reciprocity
The place I call home nobody trespasses
All is welcome
There is no need for my defenses
But I am so far from familiarity
Im just like everyone else, exploiting my offenses
Funny how we claim individuality
Yet we all react with similarity
I guess we aren’t so different after all
And these faces of unfamiliarity
Only represent the many faces of my own personality
So I walk towards a road that sparks my memory
And I will walk until I am at a place
That reminds me of home.
