Well, my trip today went great. I was a little short on time when I left, so I decided to take the highway instead of the surface roads. Finding Tandy was totally easy, and the manager ROCKS. I went in there wanting to make a tank bib for my bike and walked out signed up for a class on making motorcycle saddlebags. It's not till September, but I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be able to make whatever shape I want, and he said that he'd teach us to make them so that they'd mount under the seat, but be detachable, and I'm all over that.
Thing is, that's a sort of dangerous place for a crafter like me. I can think of eight jillion different things I could make for people. I must use this knowledge for good...
I meant to go home up 133 to 93, but I guess I missed a turn. This is where my knowledge of the map came in handy, because I still ended up where I wanted to be. I ended up on 113, and I knew that if I stayed on it, I'd end up on 38 heading into Methuen, which I did, and now I'm home.
I stopped at RiteAid on the way, and got some supplies. I though that it was such a nice day, I'd try to change my grips. Believe it or not, in order to do that, I need a water-based marker (so I can line up the grips properly), which is why I went to RiteAid.
When I got home, I found a screwdriver, but I guess it was too small, because it stripped the inside of the screws. I hope they didn't use red loctite to fasten these screws, but knowing what
13achelorette went through to get the grips off her Kawi, I bet they did.
Shit, I'm re-reading that thread on BBO, and this guy who also owns a Vulcan had problems, too; guess I can expect red loctite. I'll have to wait till I have a heat source. Dad says he has a soldering gun somewhere, or I'm sure I can pick one up at Home Depot or Sears for cheapity-cheap. Frustrating, though. Maybe I'll just go ahead and buy it and an impact driver (and maybe a hammer and a locking toolbox) and change out the grips tomorrow. (I want a locking tool box because my beloved husband is a tool vortex, and any tool he touches disappears. In the interest of not rebuying a tool I already own, I'm locking mine up and he can't have 'em. Nyah.) (Love you, honey!)
