well i've begun work today on the drumsynth patterns for the track 'forest of my life'. eventually i plan to post an unfinished demo of it here, but obviously that is still a long ways off. i will also post a highly-opinionated review of the gnu-gpl software
gAlan, which I am finding to be the most powerful softsynth i have ever used, and also the most abstract.
'forest of my life' (working title) is a slow (around 60 bpm) experimental synth track that i was inspired to do after hearing icon of coil's 'sleep: less', which was the first down-tempo track i've heard from them. i think there may be a bit of an influence from The Cure in there somewhere, too. by the way i highly recommend
buying ioc's new album 'machines are us'.
the track, and the rest my music, will be released under the
Creative Commons License, for free thanks to
Soulseek Records.
here is the first revision of the lyrics:
go into the forest
do you hear my voice? i'm calling your name
as if i'd never lived
now it's all the same
i dont wanna play
if its all a game
what did you see in me, but my memory of you?
run run away
leave me where i lay
now your off the path
have you lost your way?
its too dark to see
sit amongst the trees
you are lost in the forest...of your life (forest of your life)
as if i'd never lived
now it's all the same
i dont wanna play
if its all a game
what did you see in me, but my memory of you?
do you hear my voice?
...calling your name
as it fades to black
it all looks the same
..like you fuckers care. ok back to work now.
