Today I had an elderly couple in to fix their truck. When I went to invoice them and asked their name and address I realized that I went to school with their daughter. Public school, many years ago. She committed suicide 20 years ago, I never knew the whole story on how or why but I knew she did and it was sad. She was such a sweet girl, quiet and shy, always honest and good friend. I was hesitant to mention Janet to her parents, even after all these years they must still feel the pain of her passing. However I did mention it. My parents had lived in their house before them and they knew my aunt and uncle well so I told them who I was and then told them I went to school with Janet. Their faces just lit right up as soon as I mentioned her name. We talked for a while about the house and Janet and how much she meant to them. I do think of her often and wonder what she would be doing now. Its unfortunate that I happen to know of so many people that have committed suicide, its unreal but I often think of them. No matter what the reason is that they did it, that no longer matters. They deserve to have some prayers and good thoughts about them, regardless. Janet's Mom told me that she believes that Janet's boyfriend killed her, that she didn't commit suicide at all. They were living together and she had bought new furniture, house etc and put it all in his name. They started to not get along to the point they were going to break up. Next thing they knew she was dead. Her Mom said he was a cop and covered the whole thing up. She said there is no way that Janet would have killed herself but there was nothing they could do. Maybe its just a grieving Mother or maybe its true, I guess nothing can be done at this point and no one will ever really know. I told her that I often think of Janet, she told me Thank you and smiled. Seeing her smile meant a lot to me because I know, keeping her daughters memory alive makes her feel better :)
