So with the Presidential campaign winding down I have to be curious about the ' what might have been ticket'. I am referring to a McCain / Lieberman ticket. That ticket came very near to happening. Up until 2 days before the GOP convention, that WAS the intended ticket (at least that’s the rumor). Rumor also has it that Senator Brownback had to rewrite his speech as he had thought Lieberman was the pick. The story as I heard it is that GOP party reps. confronted McCain two days before the convention with the potential of a party faithful revolt if he tapped Lieberman.
I personally think a McCain / Lieberman ticket would have been very strong. With the current economic situation McCain would have had a jump on 'bipartisanship".
So here is my question.
Do you NOW think Lieberman would have been a better choice?
Would you have had a different opinion just before the GOP convention?
Would you choose differently if that was the ticket?
