Best of Tom & Michael, 2017

Jan 01, 2018 18:40

So another year recedes...can't say that 2017 was one of my favourites. There was political upheaval and personal loss, but there were also a few currants in the cake: getting to travel a bit, meeting up with Michael-pals at two conventions, regaining my mobility after last year's broken ankle. And of course there was THIS, ie the GREATEST THING ( Read more... )

2017 has not been a good year overall (with the current leadership in my country, I fight despair on a daily basis), but it has been a dream come true for Tom fans. A new show, lots of new pics and interviews, an active social media presence, and of course, The Podcast. No one but Michael could have given this to us, and it was a delight from start to finish. I am forever grateful. Love how the boys still look at each other, and the dueling ARMS, in your pics!

I'll be checking out KK's new show. I've always found her to be thoughtful and articulate in interviews. I can only imagine what she has faced over the years. I remember reading about how the director of Nicodemus was awful to KK during the swimming pool scene, is that the incident you're talking about?

I look forward to Michael's podcast every week (missed it last week and hope it returns soon!). Every episode is different, and they're all so interesting. For me his guests from the world of sports have been a particular revelation, since I know nothing about any of that. Glad the response has exceeded his expectations!

I hope you get to see Michael again this year at a Con or two, and who knows, maybe Tom will join him!

Butting in to say that it was rumoured to be the skinny dipping scene in Slumber where KK had a problem. Katherine Isabelle (guest star for that episode) has talked about her disgust with a director on a tv show she worked on calling out an actress for not wanting to show skin on camera, making comments like ‘do you have a wart on your butt or something, you have a great body, what’s the problem’. She didn’t name any names, but it was widely assumed by SV fandom that she was talking about that particular scene by the lake where Kristin was using a body double for the close-ups of Lana taking off her t-shirt etc

Yep, that's exactly the scene I was talking about!

Tom's increased visibility has been a saving grace of 2017!

I meant "Slumber" as Frelling details below, but Nicodemus was actually worse because KK was only 19 there and Lana was supposed to be 15! I always felt that the episode wasted an opportunity there, with Lana such a passive character. Nicodemus should have been a chance for some of her underlying anger to come out, but no, it's all sleazy-producer wish fulfillment.

In hew new show, she gets to play a tough lawyer and she looks fabulous and professional!

He mentioned that Seth Green and Zach Levi are coming up but did not mention AM, which is a relief under the circumstances. Still hoping for Glover!

Thank you - if Tom does do a Con, I hope you get to see him! Michael's now signed up for Cons in St Louis, Cleveland, Philly & Chicago so plenty of opportunity for Tom to join him <3
