Friday night...my mom and I went out to dinner at the 99 by Tower. Our waitress was really perky for some reason. We're sitting there talking about the pictures on the wall (the one at our table was of Ryan's cheerleaders, dunno what year they were from) and my mom gets a phone call from Linda. Turns out that my aunt Joanne is in the emergency room. She had some kinda infection on her foot. My mom's on the phone for about 15 minutes, so I'm just sitting there looking out into space or something. Told the waitress that my mom's soup was good since mom couldn't be bothered to pay attention to her.
So my mom shuts her cell and tells me what had happened. I think we both knew where the infection came from, as it was pretty obvious. She got bitten by a flea from one of her 2 dogs and 7 cats. Let's just say that her house isn't one that you'd wanna visit if given the chance. Cats, dogs, and cigarrettes make for one disgusting house.
On Saturday, we got news that Joanne's diabetes, blood pressure, and cholestorol are all out of control, something else that we all saw coming. You see, she has a job, but most of the money goes to keeping the animals fed. She doesn't have insurance and can't afford doctor visits/her medications.
Anyway, yesterday was my cousin Shannon's adoption day, so we went out to Friendly's with her. I thought it was gonna be a family thing, but it was only Tree, Linda, my mom, 2 cousins, and me. Oh well. Decided to go visit Joanne after Friendly's. We get to her room and talk for a little bit. Turns out that the infection on her foot/leg was celluitis. Ewwww. She was all drugged up and you could hear when she was giving herself morphine.
Good thing about this is that she's quitting smoking forever. Thank God. I hope she gets well soon.
