Derek is creepy. Not really scary, but creepy, in an older-guy-hangs-around-high-schools-drives-a-flash-car-to-pick-up-teenaged-boys kind of way.
But Derek's twinkie-recruiting strategy led me to realize that this series is built to support longevity. As long as there is at least one teen wolf on the show, it can continue even if Scott turns 20 or if the actor's contract runs out.
In any case, the second episode of the season continues the awesomeness. I'd just read an old interview with the series creator, who said he wanted a Lost Boys feel. I think he certainly gets that. It's very atmospheric, very funny, not afraid to be scary, not afraid to be cheesy.
Last year, some of the episode plots fell flat, but they always got the emotional beats right. In 2.02, they really put together a strong child abuse story, and, speaking about Lost Boys, really got across why Isaac would want to join Derek's pack.
