Didn't even spill beer on the mixer
So New Scream actually went really well. Djing was a blast (aside from a few, err, minor technical difficulties that thankfully few seemed to notice). I had been a little nervous going in, because frankly I'm just a shy person to begin with, and hadn't done much "real" club DJing at all. But it turned out okay, and I managed to sneak in some of my own bands songs, too. :-)
As for the rest of the event, the two bands, Fetish Masquerade and Universal Love Attack, were really good. It was definitely my favorite set of performances in recent New Scream history. Both bands were really high-energy and charismatic, and Kai of ULA in particular has an amazing voice. I could only see the To Die For Designs fashion show from backstage, so I can't really comment on that, except to say that it was difficult to avoid ogling the models changing outfits, since from the DJ booth one can see right down into the backstage area/girls' bathroom. :-D Actually, it was cool also when some of the girls were grooving to one of the new ARE mixes I played. (See! I told you it was all about the snares, Mike!)
So of course I have to thank dem and Steven for all their hard work throwing another cool event, even if they DID give me contradictory instructions to play the Cure all night long / never play the Cure again. Oh, and thanks for the beer!
