I've been trying to arrange a vacation but right now it looks like the universe has other ideas.
My first choice was a ten day trek through Guatemala, Belize, and into Mexico. The itinerary includes a few places I've been before but, given that just means additional surf, ruins, and pineapple, I can't complain. Of course, the tour hasn't made its minimum bookings yet, so I won't know if that trip will even happen until early July.
But that was always more-or-less okay. There's a tour at the same time that runs from Guatemala to Honduras that has made its minimum bookings, so in the event my first choice gets cancelled I have a fallback. It will make my feeble attempts to learn Mayan extremely fail, but that's fine.
This is the theory.
There was a
military coup in Honduras today, the first in Central America since the end of the Cold War.
I may have had all those shots for nothing...
