i went to get a bottle of water before and this girl stops me on the stairs and is like "did you get those shoes at Urban Outfitters? I love them!" and i looked down and realized that not only were my shoes from Urban Outfitters but my entire outfit was. for shame. but whatever, ive got on the cool purple Jem and the Holograms 1986 World Tour shirt Chrissie picked out on Tuesday. cmon a Jem world tour shirt how could i resist? the guy i work with even said it was cool.

then i proceeded to have this long conversation in the copy room with one of my bosses about my major. he asked what i used to study at John Jay so i told him Forensic Psychology (remember those days Chris? us both being psych majors freshman year?) and he asked if i was doing it here at Columbia so i told him no i dropped it because it was boring and then i told him im majoring in Evolutionary Biology and he was like wow. i get that reaction a lot and he told me about his niece who goes to Cambridge and is getting her masters in Chemistry and i resisted the urge to say "oh im sorry" and he said she went to Indonesia to do her thesis and i was telling him about what i want to do for my thesis. ive been thinking about it a lot recently but i dont know if its even possible since 1. a thesis isnt necessary for my major its only necessary for departmental honors and 2. i dont even plan on going to grad school for evolutionary bio. what i really want to do is study lemurs in Madagascar, and also Pottos in Kenya and do a comparative analysis on their anatomy with the anatomy of domestic housecats and try to trace back to their shared common ancestor and hypothesis about what adaptations cause them to diverge into difference species (was is diet, habitat, or both or something different). buttt i dont know if this is possible, i hope so because to me it would be fascinating and i'd get to spend at least the entire summer in Africa which would be a great experience. the only thing that sucks is i might be able to do this, but they would say id have to study the lemurs in zoos. but i might get away with going to Africa if i push the need to see them in their natural habitat to study the adaptations for my theories. ok im sorry this is boring.

im hungry again. i should bring lunch with me to work i guess. i have a chocolate soy milk. yum. im so excited about this weekend (because im a loser). me and Chrissie are going to the Museum of Natural History to see the Jane Goodall's Wild Chimpanzees movie. (which i have a free pass to, score for being a geek!). Chimps are vicious bastards though and the movie shows them killing Red Colobus monkeys and goes into chimp infanticide (yeah ive seen some of it shut up). and then we get to look at the Primates exhibit and the Human Evolution exhibit which are fun.

ok enough for now, time to read my article on the sexual dimorphism of lemurs yay!
