So I have a question. I've been reading your posts since I started at UM in the social work program. Now I'm nearing the end of the program, and I'm starting to look for work, preferably outside of Michigan. Can you give me any advice on how or where you're looking for positions? Thanks much in advance, and I hope your interview went well.

Well, if you have a specific agency in mind you really want to work, I would try their websites. Otherwise, I mostly use indeed.com, idealist.com, socialservice.com, and the non-profit sector section of jobs on craigslist. There's a million other job websites but I found the most relevant jobs on these sites. Everything is online now as far as sending in resumes and most places don't want you to call which kind of stinks. I also put my sister's address in NY and my current address on my resume so they know I live in MI but will be moving/have a place to stay so if you have a friend or family member with an address of where you want to move to, it might help. I've found that people in NY do recognize UofM as a great social work school so that should help too. If you don't have an address, it shouldn't be a huge barrier because I know most of the friends I graduated with moved to other states without living there first with no problem. Also, make sure to utilize the career services office. Let me know if you have any more questions!
